Vitalnet Key Tasks
"Key Tasks" is another way to check the correct operation of Vitalnet. A "key task" is like "Main Statistic". For each key task, there are two tests: 1. the menu changes correctly (eg, outcome variable changed to AA death rate or crude death rate), and 2. the output is correct (eg, AA death rates or crude death rates correctly shown in table).
An example of a plt-aaan-cst-ddn combination might be vw-std-txu1-dgw-bb1 - VitalWeb Standard Texas Birth Data. If the test works for the given plt-aaan-cst-ddn combination, the date is updated. Some tests do not apply to certain plt-aaan-cst-ddn combinations. For example, VitalWeb Standard does not calculate Multi-Tables. In that case, there is no date.
The list of key tasks cannot detect every error, because it is impossible to 100% test the functionality of any significant software program. However, in combination with other Vitalnet testing protocols, the result is that Vitalnet has proven error-free in operation.
